I love the whole Bernie Gunther series.

If the Dead Rise Not is finally in for me at the library today. I'm going to pick it up in a while.

I like Furst a lot, too. I've never understood how he managed to get published in the US unless he published in the UK first, as he's too good of a writer and is not a serial author.

Oh, how is it? I've read some of Tillman's articles in warbird mags but I haven't read any of his book yet.

I'm plowing through the Stainless Steel Rat series by Harry Harrison right now, fun reading.

Yes, that's a good book! So is every other Joseph Kanon book I've read.

BTW I just finished From Birdland to Broadway by (bassist) Bill Crow. Found out about this book here on TB. Very well written, and very funny.

Just finished this a few minutes ago.

Kerr manages some very elaborate and comprehensive historical inaccuracies, but it was interesting to have the serial massacres in Lutsk mentioned, a pretty obscure pair of atrocities.

A friend was raised in Lutsk and passed by the castle every day. He'd never heard of the episode until I told him about it some years ago.
