"The Stand" is definitely in my next-5-books LIST I'm going to read. I also want to read King's story "Apt Pupil." Let me guess, the movie sucked too.

Oh, and the guy I work with was saying IT was one the best movie-from-book adaptations from anyone, so he is an idiot :smug:

Have you read (or would you be interested in):

Scar Tissue by Anthony Keidis of the Chili Peppers. Wow, what a life. He should have been dead like 3 times already!!

Very well written with a lot of inside stuff on all the members. It was hard to put down, really.

Just a suggestion.

I recently started "Next" by Michael Crichton. I gave up halfway through 'cos I didn't want to waste any more of my life reading such dross. Quite rare for me to do that.

Now alternating between "Abusing Science" by Phillip Kitcher and "Casino Royale" by Ian Fleming. Last book I finished reading before a couple of weeks ago was "Dead Famous" by Ben Elton - very good send up of reality TV shows.

Scar Tissue is fantastic. And he's right. Anthony should be mega-dead by now.

If any of you guys get the chance, check out "Skinny Legs and All" by Tom Robbins. I don't think I've ever been more entertained by the way an author writes than I was with this book. You have to give it some time to really get into it, but it's well worth it.


I'm currently reading "On The Road" by Kerouac and "Crime and Punishment" by Dostoevsky. If that's how you spell it.

Crime and Punishment

Haha, I once got fired from a job over that book. I was
reading it for a Russian lit class, and I mentioned it to my
supervisor at a part time job I had picked up at Pier One.

She seemed interested, so I give her a synopsis of the
author's view of the criminal mind. After that dissertation
she decided I was bizarre, possibly a potential threat and fired
me at the end of work. No sense of humor from that
bitch.

Pretty incredible. Never bought anything from that chain since as they are all asshats.

I have Dubliners by James Joyce and The Snows of Kilimanjaro (Hemingway short stories) on the shelf for this week. I also have a friend who's a huge Hunter S. Thompson fan and she was going to lend me Fear and Loathing..., but she hasn't yet. I'd like to know what all the hype surrounding that book is about.
