What are your fav cab configurations?

Our first bass amp (all tube point to point) is in the works as we speak.

It is a 70 watt(ish) 2x6550 powered amp with a pretty unique front end, the 6l6 50 watt version sounds nice but I want a little more headroom for low B strings. But the 50 watter was surprisingly big sounding!!!!!

I will put pics on our site once it's ready, should be a couple months or so as the headbox isn't even designed yet!:o

Still kicking around cab ideas...

Any cool ideas for a name???

I'll try to think up some ideas for names. EDIT: Grinder? Surveyor?
I imagine designing a headbox would take some time, you guys have some wild designs.
It's nice to see a company doing something different, i.e. not vintage styled Marshally headboxes. Verellen too, but in a different way.
I am especially curious about the cab, however since you are going with a 70w head I would suggest a high-efficiency (Not necessarily big) cab to go with it.
Keep in mind speaker sizes don't have a "Sound", you can't say 15s sound like mud or 10s are faster or anything like that, I've noticed a lot of responses say certain speaker sizes have properties unique to that size but it just isn't so.
With that in mind, I encourage you to try some speaker configs you don't see too often ;)

Cool names!

I am playing the amp through a 1x12 thiele style prototype cab that sounds sweet but it is just a rectangle box which we know is not much fun;) I think a 12" and an 8" together would be fun!:hyper:

Wow! I've never seen amps like your before, not for instruments anyway. The UK used to have a healthy audiophile base with many esoteric amp designers, but nothing crafted quite like yours. Any bass player seriously interested in your gear is going to have an open mind and unlikely to hold preconceptions as to what any particular cone diameter will sounds like or is best. Drivers from 5" upto 15" can all sound great for bass, either on their own or in combination. (I would love to see the results of a blind test of different dia cones, I bet most wouldn't be able to tell what they were listening to). I'm sure that a good cab design employing 8's,10's,12's,15's etc,etc will have brilliant results, dependant upon your amp of course. I'm guessing the aesthetics and moderate output of your gear will filter out the luddites and those looking for massive pressure levels. Good luck with what I'm sure will be a beautifully crafted product.

Thank you so much for the kind words, I was hoping to get quality feedback from players like yourself, we do have a preamp out for use with a larger amp by the way, I just don't think making a massive tube amp is in the near future for us. It seems the trend is smaller and lighter lately anyway;)

I am getting ready to possibly be the official solder slinger for DHA-USA (Dave Hall Amps) where I hope to build some of his preamp/head designs in the future, talented designer;)

Lately I've been throwing my GK 1001/210 combo on top of an old Sunn Coliseum 8028 12+18 cab.

This cab has a passive crossover built into it. Loaded with EV's. LOUD!

Also use the combo with a Marshall 4x12 or a Plush 2x15. Sends 540w out for an extension cab @ 4ohms
