What audio interface are you using?

I use an a Arturia Audiofuse studio. It’s great for a lot reasons, foremost of which are that it has inserts (which makes it easy to integrate rack or pedal effects during mixing), and Bluetooth which makes it super easy for me to use drum machines and synths from my iPad. Great stuff!

Many good suggestions above. Do be aware that older interfaces might not play nice with newer pc/laptops due to usb drivers. And thunderbolt is not that much different these days in this regard. Good new ones are inexpensive IMHO.

For me, it's Focusrite Scarlett all the way, all third-generation units. I first started with a 2i2 and moved to the 18i20 until a bandmate took it to Ohio with him. I replaced that with my current 18i8, which I really like, and then picked up a Solo to loan or out or as a backup. I think for the money they're well-designed and built, sound great, and are easy to use.

3rd gen, great sound, absolutely no problem with drivers
And it has midi connectors for my keyboard :hyper:

I think these days anything is good enough. I have a Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 but I also record my band with an Echo Audiofire 12 + external cheap preamps or a Behringer XR18. I have used better preamps (by Line Audio or Golden Age) but the benefit was minimal, for pop/rock.

I have two MOTU 828 (1st gen).
One I bought new in 2002, the other I got off ebay last year for $24 bucks.

They do what they are supposed to do.

Its nice having 16 channels, so I don’t need to move plugs around every time I switch from bass to piano, or guitar, or drums.
