What audio interface are you using?

RME user here too… a ten year old UFX. Works great in windows 10/11, and the drivers still get updated.
Their support is legendary. I will go back to RME at some point. I had the USB Fireface UFX rack mount, and it worked perfectly, always, which is more than I can say for some. I even used the record-direct-to-USB stick feature a couple of times. I sold it because it was more than I needed, but I might go to one of the smaller models.

I got a PreSonus Studio 24C while in the confinement just to play with my friends on Jamkazam. Works well for me. I'll be recording with it soon but haven't tried it yet for that purpose.

The sound is great. It's my first buy so i can't compare. You got 2 ports, i use one for the my mic Shure sm57 (voice) and one for my bass.

Behringer U-PHORIA UMC404HD Audiophile 4X4 24-Bit/192 KHz USB Audio/MIDI Interface with Midas Mic Preamplifiers Black https://a.co/d/5FP11zK

It acts as a 4 channel mixer too, pretty sweet!!!
:)

I have one of these, too - can't beat it for the price. Pretty solid and versatile - I even use the MIDI ports! Got mine 4 years ago from Adorama on sale for $70 - it's gone way up since then, but still way cheaper than most other 4-channel interfaces.

Steinberg UR22C and Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 Gen3. I like both, prefer the UR22C because of the embedded dsp channel strip (dspMix, works well for voice recordings, have not tried it with bass signals) and manual control pots (i.e input/usb mix control)... 2i2 is a little stronger with gain hungry dynamic mics. I have not noticed any major sound quality differences with line devices, both produce good audio signals from my Fender PJ and EBMM basses.

I purchased my units a few years ago, both are still going strong. If I were buying a new one today, I like the Motu UltraLite-Mk5.

yah, mine was a little over $100 when i got it. It is great in my home studio for just me.

I record my bands practices most of the time but i use an XR-18 for that…. More channels, Same midis pre amps but the gain is set digitally, i actually like the physical gain control on the umc.
I also figured out i can use the UMC as the interface if i want to record my playing or whatever straight to video. I have the gain control at my finger tips and can play through one channel, have whatever im playing to on another channel and have a mic (I don’t, but i can) through another channel.
If i do it right, im able to skip syncing and heavy editing and i can export that project straight to YouTube or whatever. That has been convenient a few times.

I've been looking at the Motus. Why that instead of a scarlet?
A few reasons. I liked the configuration of the inputs and outputs, MIDI in and out and USB C. Liked how the monitor function was set up. I really liked the visual metering as well. Basically all the functionality just appealed to me and I've been really pleased the 2 years I've had it. Another important feature for me was that I could have 4 separate inputs on 4 separate tracks for recording as well as MIDI.

My thought on things like this is... at any given price point, most items will be equivalent (with a few outliers) so I pick the one that has the features laid out in a way that is appealing to me with the exact functionality I'm looking for. In this instance MOTU checked all those boxes. I has also looked at Focusrite, Steinberg, Zoom, and Tascam. I probably would have been reasonably happy with any of them.

None of the interfaces I use are still made, they're long ago discontinued by the manufacturers, so listing them here is purely academic. But fwiw:
- for my main recording rig I have a MOTU 2408 with the PCI-424 card, which is being fed from the SP/DIF output of a Lucid AD9624 a-to-d converter
- for my remote rig I have a Tascam US-1641

- UA Apollo Silver Quad ( bought it when it first got out )
- MOTU HD192 (PCIe) (My ex main kit , kept it since it's worth nothing now)
- MOTU 2408mk3 (PCIe) ( Kept it , useful ADAT I/O )
- MOTU Ultralite AVB ( for my bass kit/rack )
- MOTU 1248 ( My new main kit )

The newer MOTUs sound amazing , better than UA IMHO and the AVB option is very useful
