What band should cover which song?

Well, he did cover "Rock And Roll"...
I'd love to hear that line-up tackle "96 Tears"
One tune I always they should have done, especially in light of their "Through The Looking Glass" album, is this...although to be fair it's pretty obscure...
But then, they ripped it up on "Helter Skelter" and did that trippy "Dear Prudence".
I think it is interesting amd intriguing thinking about The Police covering a Beatles tune. I would have to go with "She's a Woman"
Ooh... good call! Along similar lines, I've always wanted to hear The Stones cover Edie Brickell's "What I Am"
You know, that would be a really fun song to cover. Lots of ways you could "customize" it.
If it would be for the potential faux reggae treatment, Jeff Beck already went there, with an authentic Jamaican bass player, Phil Chen...
To return the compliment The Sisters Of Mercy paid in covering "Jolene", Dolly Parton should cover "This Corrosion"
SoM, "live"... lol. Love Patty though. Got to see her a couple times with The Damned. Never with Gun Club, but ya know... She's great.
The joys of British pop music on tv - always mimed in the 80s. That "line-up", if you can call it that, never performed live, so miming to the synths was as good as it got.
The final, and very odd SoM single "Under The Gun" which was more a messed up cover version than an original composition, and which featured Terri Nunn of Berlin duetting with Andrew Eldritch was properly performed on tv shows. Heres the original, by Billie Hughes (who was big in Japan)
And here it is gloriously belted by Terri Nunn, and slowly undermined by Andrew Eldritch
To keep within the frames of this thread, I think Terri Nunn should do an entire album of SoM covers
The Damned should cover Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On".
Orville Peck would do a great job on Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart" (Because Frank Sinatra isn't around to cover it).
St. Vincent would do an amazing cover of Brian Eno's "Baby's On Fire".
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard should cover either David Bowie's "Space Oddity" or Pink Floyd's "Atom Heart Mother" suite.

Wow, couldn't be more different yet the same. Terri would do a great job at pretty much anything.
I'm down with literally all of these. Maybe especially the St. Vincent cover.
When you stated "along similar lines", I wasn't sure if there might have been a similar Verve/Andrew Loog Oldham Orchstra/Stones/Allen Klein fiasco(besides the KD Lang thing).
Ah, yeah, I missed that connection. I really just meant that The Stones would sound pretty cool covering either of those tunes.
