What bass do i have???

The large non-slotted nut, fender copy headstock, and the route at the bottom of the neck pocket for a neck heel truss adjustment remind me alot of a Made in Korea Harmony "Marquis" copy of a Fender Precision bassthat I had recently.

You're best bet, at least to determine origin, would be to take the neck off and have a look at the neck pocket. It might also tell you if you body is made of plywood like mine was. You might find some clues under the pickguard as well.

Whatever you have, it's definatley a neat looking bass. How does it play and sound?

you know now that I re-read that post, I see the holes for the cover in the wood...I thought he meant the extra 2 screws IN the bridge--doh'

those 2 screw holes might be for a cover type thing ive seen on other basses before. if you ask me they look classy with the cover on

Seriously, I'd go along with the thought that your bass is a Japanese lawsuit era bass. If it plays well and you like it, go with it and enjoy that very unique finish! as has been pointed out, to do a finish like that now would cost a guy more than the whole bass!

Well it definitely isn't something I'd consider replacing anytime soon, I really like how it handles, because of its weight, you can zoom around without the bass dancing along with you. Slapping and popping on this thing really makes a beastly sound, and it has a very rounded tone.
Haha I've always loved the finish, but I didn't know it was THAT hard to attain! I can understand its value isn't high, its got a few dents here and there and rusting and everything (although I'm planning to replace the pickups and some other hardware soon), it's really a pleasure to play it.
