What bass do i have???

Hi everyone!
I got this bass from a friend a while ago, and I'm not exactly sure what model or brand it is, I tried googling it but I can't seem to find it...I guess it kinda looks like a Fender... sorry a bit unfamiliar with this! The only words I can find written on it are DENVER across the head.

Not sure of the origin, some kinda Asian thing late 70's maybe, but that color! Whoo boy that's some red flake!!! I like it alot.

It could be a Fender, or it could be a Fender copy. The headstock looks pretty close to the "real" P bass - but it could be a lawsuit bass. The best way to tell is to take it apart and see what markings are on the neck heel, the neck cavity, and the electronics cavity, and also to see the markings on the pots and the capacitor.

Edit: I think the lack of a skunk stripe (back of neck) indicates it's probably not a vintage Fender neck.

Yeh ok, I guess I'll try and take it apart...I should've done it when I restringed it a couple of days ago
It does have a really full tone (despite several of the metal parts starting to rust), I love the sound, but damn, you gotta feel how heavy this thing is!

It's not gonna be a Fender. Nobody in their right mind would refinish a Fender headstock to put a Denver decal on it. Even if you do take it apart I doubt you'll find anything revealing. Most likely it's one of the barely documented Korean copy brands from the early 1980s.

+1 - check the two extra screws on the neck-ward side of the bridge plate, the squared truss adjustment notch, the molded plastic nut...

I'd say don't worry too much about the brand - it's bound to be an Asian-made P-clone.

Just play it and enjoy it - many of those basses sound great and play very well. I'm envious of the red metalflake finish - that would cost you $$ today!

I took the covers off mine so you can see that mine does not have those extra screws, and looks just like that one:
