A blue stingray with a maple fingerboard
My dad has this exact bass. The best bass I've ever played, both feel-wise and sonically, and it looks great as well.
My current "next" bass is really pretty simple. Just a Fender Geddy Jazz. Feels great for anything from fingerstyle to picking to slap, sounds ferocious, looks simply amazing, and is relatively inexpensive.

Ive been Guitarded for around 20 years, and recently took up bass after a Craigslist J-bass acquisition. I ran out and got the cheapest used practice amp I could find, an Ibanez 15 watt monster....and have been playing bass almost exclusively since. Meanwhile my walls are covered in high end guitars that get less and less attention.I may take the plunge and sell a Les Paul for a Bass rig to gig with(Did plug my bass into my 59 Bassman guitar amp, and it actually sounds quite good at low levels)Lately Ive got all these thoughts about 5 and 6 string basses, fretlesses(?), uprights...and I have lots of gear equity. I think Id like to get a fretless next, as Im studying jazz, and love the tonal qualities, but dont want to fork out the dough for a high end instrument to learn on...soooo, after careful net research, Ive decided on 2 options. First is the Squire Vintage Modified Fretless Jazz...great reviews and low cost Link Removed
...then there is Rondo, and one model in particular that catches my interest.. a Douglass 5 string neck through fretless Link Removed
I have yet to try out the VM but they are around to try..the Douglass would be riding only on reputation and word of mouth, which makes me nervous...never bought an instrument sight unseen before.....Birthday is coming up end of the month though, which will provide reason for the purchase. Ill let you all know which I get, and of course would love to hear from anyone that has any Douglass experience without hijacking this thread.

I'm looking at picking up a MIM Jazz V as a backup to my '08' MIA Fender Jazz V. Then I plan on installing Bartolini 57J1 passive pups into the MIM because there are times when I need that low midrange growl, and the Barts give me that.

I've been GASing for another Squier VM Jazz bass, but I want to paint it Candy Apple Red! That and I am still wanting to build a dinky P in Trans black with a black blocked and bound Jazz neck...
Of course, GAS being what it is, this will change about 100 times in the next week.....

More MTD Kingstons. Specifically an Artist 4, fretless Artist 5 and another Artist fretted 5. I need the Artist 4 asap for low c tuning so that's officially next.

I was an art student in the 80"s before I got into medicine, but the art "bug" has never left me. So, I look at all guitars as works of art, wether they sound good or not....some just look really good hanging around. Hopefully my next "big buy" will be a G. Lee Jazz signature, until then I may buy...who knows how many cheaper ones just as works of art. Some people like to hang pictures and paintings...I like to hang basses. They dont have to sound like "gig" quality ax's for people to admire the way they look.
I wanted a Fender MIA Standard Jazz V but I've been looking at Sad and Lak a lot more seriously in the last month or so. Dang talkbass!
