What bass do you want next?

Danelectro-63-Bass-Long-Scale-Black-OG9412.jpg

Danelectro 63 reissue sooo gooood.

I think I have to build the next bass that I want.

What I want to do is get a Warmoth Jazz body and stuff it with a MM pickup in the sweet spot, then a P-pickup right against it, and one more MM pickup against the P-pickup in the neck position. I would find a used Geddy Lee neck and slap on a D-tuner. I would want to wire up the MM pickips to split the coils and stacked tone / volume knobs for all 3 pickups. This would give me the option of having that MM sound, Jazz tone, P tone, PJ sound and so on and so forth.

I would want to wire the 2 MM pickups into one rotary switch so that I could run the MM pickups like this......

1: bridge MM full on
2: neck MM full on
3: both MM's full on
4: both outer MM coils on
4: both inner MM coils on

I could also mix in the P-pickup with any combination via the volume knob.

So a total of 4 control knobs on the face of the bass and one jack. I think it would be a very versatile bass with tons of tone options and all of that pickup surface would almost be like a full body ramp.

honestly, seriously... i am good for a while. i was on a bit of a bass buying spree this year, and loaded up good. i honestly can't think of a sound i would need that the 9 basses i have could not provide, and i seem to go for the bongo 90% of the time, anyway.

so, nine basses coupled with the fact that i just got engaged, i am set for a minute.

amps, however? you never know.

My Dream bass is simple....

I recently got to try out a Fender P V. I'm now very sad. It's what I've been looking for in a bass for a while. Being a 5 string player, P basses are not easy to come by. I am very happy to see that they did a string through on it.

I am trying to figure out what I am going to sell to get it.

If I sell my bass head, the bass isn't all that worth it is it :D

Maybe I can mow the neighbors yard or sell a kidney.

When I saw the thread title in the list I knew exactly what it would be and that's it exactly - a new Fender Precision 5 in sunburst.

We just bought a new house and are putting a lot of money into typical new house things, but once that slows down (or I find a great deal on a used in the the For Sale forum) this will be my next purchase.
