what bass is this

can anyone tell me the make and model of this bass and is it a short scale? How about the year it may have been made?

Thanx. I looked up Fender Jaguar and the new models show as 34" scale. I am trying to find out the scale of the bass in the pic. I am looking for a short scale. Th new Squire Vintage Modified Jaguars have a different head stock for the short scale. The long scale models have the typical Fender head stock like the one in the pic I posted. I am beginning to think it is the long scale. It was posted online as being a Squier Mustang, but the pic is not a Mustang.

do you mean on the headstock? The picture resolution is not high enough and it does appear that maybe they wipe off the headstock decal. I can't tell. I still have not heard back from the seller yet who I asked a lot of questions regarding this bass.

Measure the distance from the nut to the bridge. 34 inches is long scale. 30 inches is short scale. Fender/Squire only offers 34 and 30 inch scale basses regardless of model or where they were made.

Ok...it's hard to be exact when working off a small photo, but if you assume the width of a Jazz bridge pickup is about 3.7 inches...and use the width of the bridge pickup in the photo as a gauge to measure the distance between the nut and the bridge in the photo...it seems to be much closer to 30 inches than 34. So I'd say the picture is of a short scale bass. As an extra check, find out the number of control knobs. If it has only three knobs it's most likely the short scale version. If it has dual stacked volume/tone controls - or 4 separate knobs - it's probably the 34 inch model. Assuming I'm correct in thinking it's a Squire.

Does that help any?

Note: I'd be careful buying a bass from somebody who saw the need to remove the manufacturer's decal from the headstock. About the only reason I can think the seller would have for doing that is in hopes somebody else would think the bass is something it isn't. Like maybe the more expensive Fender branded model rather than a Squire? So be careful. There are even people who are now starting to "rebrand" Squires with a counterfeit Fender logo.

Thank you. I understand. It is Guitar Center selling it. I am still waiting to hear from them. Amazing how I see store employees standing around doing nothing and nobody could answer an email in one whole day LOL I don't care about the brand or a decal as long as it is a good neck and no problems. Maybe the original owner replaced the neck. no one knows so far..

I'd be really surprised if the neck was replaced. New that bass goes for about $299. A decent quality off the shelf replacement rosewood and maple neck runs around $110-$150. If the neck were damaged it would make more economic sense to scrap the bass for parts - and sell them - to help finance buying a whole new instrument - rather than replace the neck.

I have had four GC's from diff states reply to me over the last few weeks. One was bad and it took them three days. The others were same day. We;ll see if they check their email tomorrow morning.

Why don't you call? I've always had a great response when I call GC's about their used equipment.
