love my squier ss jag, but if you want a cheaper short scale, there's the SX line from rondo. they have several but this is the cheapest one

I agree. That is what I planned on doing. A Rondo P bass shorty.

I used to think that I needed to own expensive basses until I decided that I don't need "professional" quality equipment anymore. I traded my American Jazz 62 RI for a MIM Jazz and then bought the Squire VM Jag for a backup. What backup? I use it all of the time now and think it is great.

I agree. I believe it is the person playing, not the gear. When I was 19, way back LOL, I saw a really great guitar player back In Detroit, who played a cheap guitar with ratty old strings through a small tiny amp while he sat up bed. He was sick at the time and he still made that gear sing better than most people who have expensive gear. He also owned pro gear, like a very expensive Gibson Byrdland. He just had this laying around his bedroom. From that point on I learned that a good musician can play anything and make it sound good.

And the short scales only come in black,silver or red. Never seen one with a sunburst finish that was from the factory. Stop by the club (see my sig), tons of photos.
