What battery do you trust for your active?

It takes years before that happens, no matter what kind. If you're that "discerning" why not remove the battery before cold storage?

There are a few stories, one recently on here of newish batteries leaking of the Alkaline variety.

Secondly, IF I do decide to store a bass for more than a couple of weeks, you're damn right the batteries are going to come out.. however, I don't store them for long. The best part of the new Lithiums is they're far less likely to leak. Any battery is a problem if there's a short and a rapid drain, but I"m not worried about this as it's just about impossible to occur.

Oh, and because there's usually a good amount of charge left, I get to re-purpose those batteries in other things til they are gone. I just wish my Roku remote took a 9v.

I put the partially used batteries in my smoke alarms. I'd rather burn to death than lose power mid-performance!:D

Naw... Smoke Alarms deserve fresh batteries... Us audio guys that have kids have a never-ending supply of partially-used batteries handed to us by co-workers because audio guys know they'll be put to good use in kid toys...

It's just the way it's been where I've worked.

Is it a fair voltage test to use a meter with no load?
Certainly an accurate test of a car battery charge state is done with a meter with a huge restive load built in.
OTOH, is the current draw so low that a direct no load voltage reading good enough?

All my basses and most of my guitars are active. I've used active instruments since the late 70's. Any good alkaline. I've used Procells, Duracells, Energizers, and mostly Ray-O-Vac. Rayovacs have gotten better over the years and are as good as the others. Regular price around here is less than sale prices of the others. Sale prices are even better. Never a problem, never a letdown.
