I do to but honestly i dont think its a good idea to make a bass you can only play standing. And if you wanted to sit down and play it like bppubjr suggests than think of how uncomfortable it will be to be supporting the neck the entire time you play. If i were you i'd come up with a different design.

Why would you be supporting the neck in a sitting position any more with this design than with any "standard" bass design? In fact, the center of gravity should be just above the left leg (partly due to the long body behind the bridge), and it will fall naturally into that position leaving the left hand free for fretting...

Yes but even if it can't be sit-down-able, I already have an MIM Jazz bass that's really good when sitting down.

Just build it, pie man 25. Before some-one else does. I think it's clever. If you use oak, be aware that not all oak is created equal. White and red are different. Density of the wood matters; it affects tone and your shoulder. Here are avg. densities of several woods used for solid-body basses and guitars:
Red Oak, Hard Maple, Mahogany (african), all = 0.63
Basswood = 0.37 Alder = 0.41 Walnut = 0.55 Ash = 0.60
White Oak = 0.67
and just so you know, Rosewood = 0.80 and Ebony = 0.90

With a shape that different, especially concerning the long point well past the bridge, you might do well to make a mockup in junk wood first to see if you can find strap attachment points that will work to balance it properly (no neck dive) while standing. For example, you could end up changing to a more asymmetrical design with a longer upper and smaller lower point, like a check mark.

I would love to see this actually come to fruition. I've been trying to envision a minimalist design that still had all the usual parts (not like a Steinberger) and this is exactly what I was missing!

I like it, i say build the thing. as far as strap position, you could put the front one on the back of the body kinda like where the stienberger, or hohner b2 bass strap buttons go. and the other right below the bridge in the normal position.

That was the original plan, but for examples I was thinking like a Gibson SG, but not the bass, the guitar, I just don't like the new SG reissue bass, I'd get an old EB-3 though, I just like it.

Those instruments are known to balance poorly as a bass.
