What Boss Pedals Are In Your Setup?

Well, this is a pretty old thread but I'll jump in. I like Boss pedals because as far as I'm concerned, they're a very good value. I think the cost to quality ratio on Boss pedals might be the best in the market. The boutique pedal makers don't do the volume Boss does so their pedals are expensive. MXR does high volume but they still cost more than Boss (are they all really better?).

What I have:
TU-3 tuner (the mute-on-tune feature is PRICELESS! I use this more often as a mute than a tuner)
GEB-7 EQ
LMB-3 Limiter/Enhancer (compressor)
CEB-3 Chorus (I don't normally use this and it's not the best chorus pedal I have)
ODB-3 Distortion (not much call for this one--yet--in the Praise & Worship music I play)

I also have: TR-2 Tremolo (sound cool but I don't use it in P&W)
PH-3 Phase Shifter (which sounds like crap with my basses but maybe I'm using it wrong)

So basically my current set up is the tuner, EQ, compressor into a tube preamp/DI to FOH.

I used to have a TU-2 tuner and an LS-2 line switch/mixer on the pedalboard. I now use them when practicing at home. Both quite nice pedals though, replacing them wasn't really all that necessary. To be honest I think they fell victim of a GAS attack. :)

I've been through a few Boss pedals but currently I only have a pair of OC-2s on my board.

Generally they are good pedals though. I don't like the footswitches but they usually do the job sonically and they are so abundant they are cheap on the used market.

OC-2, CE-5, BF-3, & TU-2.

The CE-5 and BF-3 are on my amp's send, and the TU-2 is on the tuner out. I love the being able to switch back and forth between latch and momentary on the BF-3, and the CE-5 has both hi and lo filters. I also like the footswitches because you can switch them on and off very quickly easily, unlike the heavy duty kind on MXR or Eventide for example. Very useful on the OC-2.

Darn, I wish Boss would start to include switchable buffer/true bypass, because that's the problem most people have with them.:scowl:

I have these ones,

My favorite is the line selector. Allows you to turn on several effects and use the line selector to kick them all in at the same time. Great way to get multi effect type tones with pedals

The boss bass eq sucks IMO really noisy and not very musical

I keep debating on rather or not I should get the LS2 or some other type of bypass looper for this specific job. Seems you can't beat the LS2 for the money.

It works really good. I actually am using a line 6 multi effects now. But if I had the money to buy several more pedals I'd go back to the real deal. I bought mine because I wanted to put all my pedals in my rack. I had a huge 16 space rack at the time( down to 8 now)I normally only use say one "effect" sound per song and it was great for that. I could turn on the separate pedals in the rack between songs than kick them in with the line selector which was the only pedal on the floor. The level controls are nice also. Certain effects like my whammy IV had a little cut in volume on certain settings and I could use it balance volumes

Boss OC-2 (mit) - absolute favorite octaver of mine. Never going off my board. Love this thing for it's synthy filthy crunchy tone.

Boss BF-2B - it's a nice flanger, but I'll probably replace it with BF-2 non bass version since most people prefer the tone of that one. This one retains the low end great though and has a very nice shimmer to it.

...CS-3: This is absolutely, positively, without a doubt my FAVORITE pedal. Love it, love it, LOVE IT! Here's the catch: I have the Humphrey Audio Mods CS-3 "Bass Smasher" version. :ninja: Modded, it's stone quiet and can go from totally transparent to entirely smashing your signal with just a tweak. Sustain for WEEKS. Out of the box? Noisy and crappy...
Have you tried the LMB-3?
How do think the the CS-3 compares to the LMB-3?
Aside from the different names Boss gave them, they are both compressors. I have un-modded, out-of-the-box LMB-3 but I've never tried a CS-3.

Currently Rocking:

OC-2 Octaver
SD-2 Dual Overdrive
LS-2 Line Selector (best pedal BOSS makes)
TU-2

I love the features of the LS-2; especially the ability to adjust individual volumes of the two loops. I currently go Bass->SD-2->LS-2 (set to A<->B)->TU-2->Amp

In loop A I have a Fuzz and pretty much treat that as a main tone loop and just switch the fuzz between dirty and clean.

Then I have loop B with an the OC-2->Shiva->WSOU->Source Audio BEF->Drasp DL4. This is handy for getting more volume out of the DL-4 as well as being able set delay tempos before injecting the delay into the signal, so that makes delaying more musical.

It does have it's limitations though. It can make a good clean blend,...but if you expect it to do that as well as switch between loops,...it won't; you will need two LS-2s to do that sort of thing. If you intend to run more than two loops,...you will need more than one LS-2.

Ultimately and when a budget allows,...I'll probably make a switch to something like the Voodoo Labs Pedal Switcher/Pedal Commander system for setting up effects loops, but having an LS-2 is a good budget way to get more expressive with your pedals.
