What cabs am I sleeping on? (Need help picking a new cab)

So, if I understand this DG amp....It will run:

500 watts @ 4 Ohms, 350 Watts @ 8 Ohms and 900 Watts @ 2 Ohms.

I would point out that two (2) cabs will help your situation better than a single. I am not sure what the budget is in doing it right. However, I should direct you to look at the BAER ML112 Series II Cabinets.

ML112 = 350 Watts @ 8 Ohms so you could push max power @ 8 Ohms and not kill your cabinet. The 500 Watts @ 4 Ohms is very comfortable into 700 Watts RMS on the pair.

The cabinet is 1 x 12" + 1 x 6" (Mid-Loaded) with the 6" in its own sealed compartment. The 12" is ported. Weight is about 36 lbs. These can stack vertical OR horizontal with feet on both sides. That means small foot print, better low-end extension, better despurtion of sound and being smaller overall than a large cabinet.

These sound real good!

It says on Sweetwater that the DG runs 900 watts at 4 ohms and 500 watts at 8 ohms.. the Baer looks sick btw I've never checked them out before. Thanks for the info!

It appears that if you run the "Min-Load" switch @ 2 Ohms and are only using a 4 Ohm load it knocks the output down due to the possibility that a single 4 Ohm cabinet may not be rated high enough to take a solid 900 watt output. It scales things down a bit for more flexibility.

I have the DG212N but no experience with the others mentioned. The main amp I have it paired with is an Ampeg SVT 7 Pro and it presents a nice contrast. It's a more flat or what sounds like mid strong cab. It gets incredibly loud and I don't doubt it's 1,000 watt rating. At times when I think I've made it fart out, it's always actually been me overdriving the front end of my amp instead (turn down gain, turn up master to same volume and no more issues).

It's a tight sounding cab with a TON of low end capabilities. The tweeter is one of the smoother ones I've heard and enhances treble nicely without sounding too brash. As expected, it handles distortion pedals nicely.

Possibly just a personal preference, as I mostly played 15's mostly before the DG212N, but while there is absolutely no lack of lows, they weren't as rich as I was used to with the 15's. Honestly, this is very minor and in the mix not a big deal. I will say that though - it's definitely a "mix cab". Playing it solo doesn't do it justice.

I see a lot of people saying the Berg NXT212 is better, but is it $600+ better? An honest question since I've never played one. I'm looking to check out the Darkglass Microtubes 900 v2 myself, so I'm interested to hear what direction you go in.

Berg 210 stacked on a DG212 and I use my genzler head more for the power amp. I feed it my Ashdown little bastard or my other pres.

Here's my question: What cabs can you sleep IN? Might need to convert some cabinets to a makeshift shelter if gigs keep getting canceled thanks to the insanity re-gripping NY.
