What can I do to improve my bass?

I saw you said your teacher set up your bass.
If it needs much more, consider Chuck Levin's Washington Music Center in Wheaton, MD.
Try to avoid Saturdays a mad house.


I didn't notice where you said you are.

Listen to all different kinds of music to educate your ears. We are lucky in DC to have 2 classical music stations. It will help you as a musician in a few years.

I like the idea of a good teacher and sticking to practice.

I'm going to go against the grain, and give you completely different advice...

If you want a more expensive bass, and you have the money, why not buy it? If a Warwick makes you excited about bass and makes you want to play, then you should definitely get one. Just be sure it's a real desire to play music, and not a temporary interest. Get whatever gear you need to make you a happy and confident player.

I would probably upgrade your amp first, to a mid-priced quality amp. It will do more for your tone than a new nut or bridge.
