Yesterday, pink ones that say "BOOBIES" in big letters on them.
You don't have to wear 'athletic' socks with 'athletic' shoes, but always and forever, white socks with black shoes are for nerds, dorks, and geeks.Funny that I stumbled onto this thread today, as lately I've been struggling with an existential dilemma regarding sock color.
When I was a kid, the most heinous fashion sins that a guy could commit were either wearing white socks with (dark) shoes or wearing dark socks with (usually white or light-colored) sneakers. I've followed those "rules" for decades. I have a drawer full of identical white athletic socks, since I almost always (in cold weather) wear white or light-colored sneakers; I have just a couple of pairs of dark socks for the rare occasions I have to "dress up" and wear (dark) shoes.
Well, just last week I decided that I needed new sneakers and went shopping, and for the first time in my life -- and for reasons I don't understand myself -- I came home with a pair of solid-black sneakers (labeled for "cross-fit" or something). And now I don't know what kind of socks to wear with them. It was easy when sneakers were white and shoes were dark, but... dark sneakers? I want to wear white athletic socks since they're athletic shoes (and because I already have a drawerful of them), but that looks funny to me and makes me feel like I should wear dark socks.
Maybe y'all can help me solve the existential crisis so I can get back to sleeping at night?
