What comes first

i would like TBers opinions. I have a Bose L1 S1 B2 witha Mackie Profx22v2 mixer. That's my PA. I am thinking about changing to a two 15s and a Sub, and use the Bose as monitor. My question is this, should I get the sub first and match it with the Bose, or get the 12s and use the Bose as a monitor now. With the Bose I don't need monitors. Your suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

Why are you looking to change?
If you change, does your current bass rig have enough wattage to handle bass in a venue without a sub?
All things being equal, I would go with tops first, then add sub...

This isn't about my bass rigs I have two, a Eden WT550 head on a Epifani 410 cabinet, and a Genz Benz sShuttle 6.2 head on two Focus 112 cabinets. So I'm good. This is to run a band.

The question wasn't about your bass rig, it was about being able to produce enough bass from the stage if you buy tops first and gig with no sub!!

And.. what is driving the upgrade to begin with?
Not enough rig for the gig or ?

Ok, I'm tracking. Yeah I can carry the house with my bass rig. The upgrade is I guess you would say more to have and not need than to need and not have. The Bose will handle most of the clubs here at moderate volume. I just can't put the kick in it, mainly just vocals

I'd start with tops then add the sub.. you definitely need a sub for adequate kick/bass - depending on one's style of music.. but bar/club.. usually likes the "defined" beat.

Now here is the killer. I added everything up and it will cost met $1500 that's two tops and one sub, another L1 S1 setup will cost $1800. I can save money, or my back and stage space.

that's something you will have to decide for yourself. Passive will be lighter than active - no amp!
What are you looking at buying? I would recommend NOT buying cheap.
