Yeah. At 1:35 it's dead on Lester Young and then the way he inverts that phrase in his permutation of the motif. And then he does it again at 2:03 then 3:04. NYPIANO coined it "Rhythmic Transposition" in one of the other Bird threads. I think Billie Holiday had a similar effect on the singers with regard to rhythmic freedom and phrasing. All the talk about extensions is a moot point without the fact that the rhythmic phrasing evolved from somewhere other than thin air. Thanks Tom.
