What did you learn today?

To restrain myself when I want to respond to mockery and ridicule with the same. :hyper: A lesson it seems I have to learn over and over again.

I know that's a good idea, but I can't keep my stupid mouth shut sometimes. For the last month I've been working on a project at work. A project that'll make or break the company. It was only necessary because of the incompetence of the department who deals with it, and the horrible prioritization skills of management. I've been busting my ass, working crazy overtime and putting my actual job on hold for weeks, and finished it today. This had nothing to do with me, but I got it done. We had a meeting to discuss it and the CFO was so thankful. "Good job everyone, Daniel especially (me). Thank you so much"

I said:
"If I could deposit gratitude into my checking account, I'd be a wealthy man".

Probably wasn't the best thing to say.

Ew. Well, you busted your ass and got the job done. Your boss understands and appreciates that so your actions will most likely speak louder than your words.

Good job on getting it done.

I learned that just going by pure numbers, the US is not the greatest country in the world:

7th in literacy
27th in math
22nd in science
49th in life expectancy
178th in infant mortality
3rd in median income
4th in labor force
4th in exports

We are number one in a few things:

1st in number of incarcerated citizens per capita
1st in number of adults who believe angels are real
1st in defense spending - which is more that the next 26 countries combined (25 of which are our allies)

... that sometimes I should give up and go home when I'm too tired to think

... that when my eyes are so tired the whole room flickers I'm probably too tired to think

... that making rapid replies on TB while my brain is at 10% may cause offense or hurt feelings without intending to do so (for which I apologize)

... that coming home to two frenziedly wagging tails, a 6 pack, and my beloved makes the last few weeks of burnout far more tolerable

... how to disassemble an SVT for repair

... that it's time for an early night

Night all!
