Today I learnt that Status Quo's iconic 'Rockin' all over the world' was in fact a cover. John Fogerty wrote it.

That my local community college district is offering tuition-free two-year programs for first-time, full-time students.
Someone leaving high school can get an AA degree for free. I think that's pretty cool!

My community college degree kept me working for 18 years.
(Then it was mid-life crisis time, and back to school I went for my ECE degree.

TIL that the dwarf planet/planetoid/round rocky thing named Eris, after the goddess Eris (insert reference to the number 5 here) has a moon named Dysnomia, after the daughter to the goddess Eris. I never knew that Eris the object had a moon, nor did I know its mythological namesake had a daughter.
In the past when I had to work on a toilet replacing parts and such, I used my wet/dry shop vac(paper filter removed) to suck up any residual water in the tank/bowl to make it easier to get started.
This week I was working on yard sprinklers. One of the one's I dug around leaked a bit of water into the hole. (Sorry, no pics)
It occurred to me that I could use the shop vac to suck up all the mud and water out of the hole and reduce the effort in getting everything clean enough to glue in a repair piece of pipe.
Sure enough, it worked great and made the repair go very smoothly since I didn't have to worry about keeping mud and water out of the fitting.
Edit: Last week I used the same shop vac to save a wood floor (where the washer flexible water hose had burst).
Edit2: My wife uses it to vacuum our patio instead of sweeping.

Originally intended as a marketing giveaway, the surprise success of the book let to a pretty huge publishing empire. How large? Big enough that it’s listed itself in the Guinness Book of Records as the best-selling copyrighted book of all time.
