What did you learn today?

I was watching a trailer for a Netflix movie called Errementari. I'm watching it thinking this is some weird Spanish but it's apparently Basque. From a tiny chunk of France and Spain and it's not related to Spanish or French. It sounds like Portuguese, Hindi and Klingon.

It's a fascinating language.
I knew a woman from that region of Spain. It was Spanish but not quite, so to speak. My Peruvian friend had a hard time understanding her, even though they, basically, spoke the same language!

An aside: my Peruvian friend needed to take a language course in college. He chose Spanish. :D Turned out, it was harder for him than he thought it'd be as he was limited to using only words he had "learned" at any point during the semester To many roadblocks, apparently. :roflmao:.

Edit: spelling!

Hard to 'Like', but I did it for the brutal honestly and your ability to put a :) at the end. How long you guys been married?
Thanks.
26 years. The honesty comes from the realization that I can't be the only person in the world going through this. The frustration comes from the fact that I love her. Thing is, she came home last night in a good mood. I'm confused!! Honestly though when I wrote that at the peak of frustration and I gotta tell you... it really made me feel better.

You’re Not So Different From an Octopus: I sometimes wish I was an octopus — drumming would be a breeze, for a start. I speared an ocky once, snorkeling off the end of a friend's jetty. Bloody thing bent my hand-spear. Amazing, powerful creatures, and tasty. But these insights make for some sobering reading. …

Good to know. He just got on my radar in the last 4 years and love his music. Also like the singer (Santana singer from Scottland) that occasionaly joins him. He's getting up their in age and concerned about his health.
The first time I saw Brian was in 1973, after CTI came out (I learned all of that album back in the day, part of my bass "training"). Seem them lots of times over the years. :)

My catch was about a foot and a half long, from tip to toe. In a pink fit, I wouldn't have joined ^ that party — not on your nelly :ninja:

The boffins have been musing lately — don't ya just love that? And there's a good number of decent studies dedicated to the genius of this genuine 'monster' from the deep. They're pretty special. (Aren't we all.) … Thinking caps on …

(NB: The plural of 'octopus' is 'octopuses' — National Geographic may like to take particular note :wacky:)
How do animals think? Do they have consciousness? If your answer to that question is 'Yes', you're probably thinking of your pet dog. But dogs are easy, they're domesticated, they more or less co-evolved with us; apes are easy, too, they're our cousins. But what about octopuses? Octopus intelligence is going to occupy a lot of our attention this week on The Philosopher's Zone. We need to learn about the strange way in which the octopus brain works before we can move on to the philosophical implications of this and other forms of animal intelligence.
How do octopuses think?

… I always wondered why people would oftentimes discuss their personal business on a public forum and now I know why... It's quite liberating and makes you feel better. This is what I learned today. :)
So sorry to read of your troubles, matey. Sometimes, the hard road is the only road. As I've gone down this one, once or twice, you have my greatest respect. Remember, this will work out, with good sense and dedication, although, sadly, a compromise may be the best way forward.

One thing to remember: It's better to hold on to that love. It's yours and it's precious. She will realise that, sooner or later. You must look after yourself too.

I hope these astonishing octopuses give you a worthy distraction :)

I use to think the octopus was weird. Now it's a creature I take great interest in.

Octopus'/es/pi are AMAZING creatures. I didn't even watch @Tom Bomb's vid yet, but I know they're visually stunning shape shifters, super duper smart at problem solving (they can figure out how to unscrew the lids off of jars if there is food inside), and can fit thru any opening that will accommodate the width of their eyes and 'beak' :wideyed:

Check this escape from a fishing boat out! >

This is one of the two I've seen in person at the Seattle Aquarium a few times... Dunno where he thought he was going, but he made a dash for the floor outside the tank back in May of this year >
