But a lot of that depends on the person saying, "Trust the science."

Some people automatically trust anything labeled "science" of "scientific" as the truth. It may stem from a fear of being considered "anti-science" if they don't go along with trending science-based conclusions.

Nice try but a big fat nope from me. Science and trust are mutually exclusive. Trust is absolutely unnecessary if you employ even a modicum of healthy skepticism and intellectual rigour.

Question everything and everyone, especially anyone touting the word ‘Trust”. Question the process, question the researchers & question their funding. Question the Journals, editors, and personal agendas.

Question consensus, Question your own assumptions. Critical thinking skills are almost non-existent these days. Even the “experts” have strong personal biases and glaringly obvious blind spots when you critically analyse their work.

Today I learned what I have suspected for a year; I have ZERO ability to do a "proper set-up". None, nada, zilch, zip.

It's not that a setup intimidates me, nor I am not worried about over-tightening a truss rod. But, I do NOT have the aptitude for it.

Over the course of the past year and a half, three guitars and five basses have passed through the portals of my domicile and I have tried in ABSOLUTE vain to set each one of them up properly and haven't had a single good result.

Therefore, it is worth every single, solitary penny to have my basses and guitars set up by someone who knows what the H, E, Double-toothpicks, they are doing.

The "science" didn't establish geocentrism. That was a directive of the Church. Galileo WAS the science! And much like today, was being marginalized and threatened by the stuperstitious.

Indeed, that was the point I was making "the science" (set of facts) was dictated by the church. Science (the practice) was Galileo who recognized that "the science" was not supported by observations and went so far as to formulate an alternative that the observations did support.

As a rule, any who claim to support or follow "the science" are superstitiously following the diktats of some kind of authority figure. Those that practice science ask for peer reviewed literature sources.

There is a reason for the quote around "the science".

Put another way, scientist now that science is a verb, those not skilled in the art think science is a noun.
