what DIRECT BOX do you use live ????

I gig a REDDI all the time - and I totally love it!

I bought one after being totally dissatisfied with a DI at a session.

I was going to use it for studio use only but found that I just LOVED it through in-ears and wedges at gigs.

And it's no more fragile than any tube amps that guitarists gig on a regular basis. ;)

I am totally thrilled with my custom made DI/Preamp. It is an Ampeg Jet 12 guitar amp modded to a bass preamp with a balanced out, and it is completely high end, no noise, quality tone, bad to the bone, 6SL7GTY tube heaven. The Reddi tone is what I was after when the amp tech was tweaking it with caps and wiring schemes. I still don't know what the Reddi sounds like live, but my Ampeg sounds so good that it relieved my Reddi gas.

+1

And Me too.. I love my REDDI. I only use it on gigs that warrant great sound or on 100% if any sessions that i do. Most live gigs i just use the DI out of my GBE1200 and that works fine and is high quality and very quiet without added noise

My REDDI fell out of my case face first onto the parking lot from about 4 feet in the air.. It scratched the corner some.. But when plugged in it worked and still does work perfectly.. Its not that delicate at all.. When i got home from the session i opened it up to see how th etube was and it was sitting perfectly in its socket...
Obviously its not as small and Tank like a Countryman.. But nothing works like a REDDI.

The Reddi is wonderful. But it's 10 lbs. and fairly delicate, so it's not usually thought of as a good candidate for live work in a day and age when you can get a 500w head that weighs 5 or 6 lbs.

im sorry.. it is just my favorite.. many other DIs work fantastically too... i have a countryman which is wonderful and it was only $100 when i bought it over 20 years ago.

I was completely GAS free, and now I feel this little twinge..............I could always try it then sell it. Why did I get in this thread?:rollno:

yes it is heavy.. If i fell in a lake with it , i think i could still swim and not go under...:)
It is built well, and the way they float the emblem on the top of the unit looks very 60s.... The custom wound output transformer is as large or larger than the Power transformer.. Lots of iron in there, or whatever they make them out of..

I love tech 21. I used a Programmable bass DI for a long time. I am now waiting to get my VT bass in, I got to hear one today, and then play it...sounds amazing. The VT bass is not exactly a Bass DI though. The Bassdriver won bass pedal of the year from bassplayer mag last year if I'm not mistaken. They also have one with an effects loop built in if I'm not mistaken....

EBS Microbass II.

Just did my first gig using just it by itself, and so far so very good! Really like all the tones you can get out of it, and how well it powers the house system. Also like the stomp box format: built like a brick.

Still getting to know it, have had it about 6 months and am still getting used to how to use these things, but I'm getting to really appreciate what they can do.

And I love the EBS tone. Nice :-)

i don't have my own, so i use the venues'...most of the places we play in town use inexpensive behringer or boss variety...so far, i can't blame the units for bad sound because the good sound engineers get a good sound from them:) occasionally someone will run the DI off my TF

maybe i should invest in a better one?
