Yeah played my first show on upright bass at 10 years old started playing bass at 9. I could have mentioned I was a professional touring bassist ( no day job) but that would be over-kill

A good attitude, and a can do spirit. Go band team!
Also, I am very flexible, and will try to play a song in as many ways as possible, until the other instrumentalists are comfortable with the tempo and transitions of a song, be it original or cover.

In our little scene, it refers to a slippery combination of pocket and syncopation coated with a patina of sleazy grime.
I take care of the sound, provide the stage lighting and do 'backing shouting'. I also seem to be the only one with spare leads, tools and (in one instance) a spare strap!
Good sense of humour and an easy-going attitude. Punctuality. Bass gear (obviously). Recording capabilities.

I'm steady and adaptable. I can play most musical styles, learn new songs quickly, etc. I can making boring parts more interesting but without becoming a lead player. I'm always on the beat and leading the chord change. I set the foundation for others to solo or embellish. Just recently, I also became the timekeeper for a drummerless project. Pretty much a traditional a bassist.
Usually a lot of weed.

Not nearly as ironic. Ska invented the hype man. From "shickachick" to toasting and on to rap.
