Oh, I am extremely punctual. To a fault. I am also very organized, and always bring whatever I may need. I was a Boy Scout, so "Be Prepared" is still my motto. Extra picks, batteries, strings, tools, drinking water, extra earplugs, a lighter (I don't smoke); snacks. I am also very friendly and positive (I have been told).
Unfortunately, even after 15+ years; I still can not play very well.
+1 on Scouting. Best life skill preparation ever.
I play bass or guitar at church even though it's on hold for now. I always come prepared and make it a point not to rely on charts. I love picking out the little details that really make a difference. But I do improvise at times but in a way that's not going to toe-step on what the song calls for. Never claimed to be the best player around, but I take pride with what I do and people do notice.
Many times I bring some aggravation onto others for not listening to what's being played. Meaning, some people completely miss key parts/rhythms that are really needed to support a particular song. I don't care if they get mad at me either either. It's called "you volunteered to do this, so do your homework!!" It's no different than if someone volunteered to serve food at a shelter and then wasted time by sitting there and texting their friends instead of doing what they volunteered to do.

Will know the material and be flexible to last minute changes. Can play by ear. Can run with a song with a key and a few shorthand words (1 6 25 in Bb, funk).
I know and can play most styles at pro level except metal and maybe Gospel. Careful about which Latin or tejano gigs I take (not a lot of recent experience). I dont take gigs I am not competent at.

If I have any of what I’d consider special sauce of my own to contribute it would be collaborative song writing and arranging skills. Otherwise I’m yet another bass player with many years of experience and a strong work ethic. There are tens of thousands of us out there. Many of them are TB members.
