What do you consider alcoholism to be ?

Here...she did me the favor of scanning her pic from a fashion book, and even tinted it green (she loves Star Trek, BTW):

I wouldn't characterize it as a "disease" as it has become so fashionable to do of late. I think that is an insult to those who have a REAL disease. You can merely exercise willpower to overcome the mental, and even physical addiction of Alcohol - it amounts to simply NOT PUTTING ALCOHOL IN YOUR MOUTH.

I have a severe for of crippling Arthritis. There is nothing I can abstain from, refrain from, and behaviorily modify in order to stem the progression of my disease. If I could stop eating or drinking something, and makes myself better, I would. To characterize something that you essential HAVE the power to eliminate from your life as a disease, is a great disservice to those who have real diseases, and have ZERO choice in the matter.

Basshole summed it up right from the get go.

Everything these days is a disease. Why? So the chemical companies can sell you some drugs to cure it. Of course, that'll probably give you another "disease" that you'll need to take another drug for, but hey, popping pills can be fun!!!

Don't  me sir... Are you willing to surrender your signature peacefully by changing it to "As artist formally known as Nerd Lord of TB I bow down to Basshole and willingly give him my title"

:smug:

Ok, time to shower, and head out to what origenally should have been work now changed to drinking and watching Sharks win... I think i am an hockeyholic, wonder if i can pop some pills for that illness...

Dude, anybody with a girlfriend who looks like that could NEVER be Nerd Lord of anything! :D

I got about 4 or so different articles in pdf from some journals. I didn't read them, but I glanced through the abstracts. If anyone is curious let me know as I can't cut and paste in a "reply" and I can't link you to them since you need a password.

Wow, thanks! (she was quite flattered, too, BTW)

Funny thing is, we both took an "are you a nerd?" test online just last week. I got a 24 (not very nerdy)...and she scored an 85...HAHAHAHA...so while I may not be king of the nerds, my GF is apparently a high priestess.

She's in Brazil as we speak, and we video conference every day via MSN messenger (sucks). I hope to finally go see her again this weekend, if all goes well (it's been months). I coming armed with a rock (of the diamond variety). Not letting this one get away. :D

I don't know -- I'm getting more of a Sophia Loren vibe from this shot...

She's quite the chameleon. Here's another pic of her (she's blonde this time, in the white dress):

...and the shot from the fashion book without the "Star Trek" green tint:

Well, if I'm the Nerd Lord and she's the Nerd High Priestess, I guess she should be blowin' you off to come over to the Dark Side (with me!) anytime now... :ninja:

Come to think of it, my wife probably wouln't appreciate that very much -- Damn! ANOTHER Nerd High Priestess slips through my fingers! :p

I certainly hope you're going to let us know how things go! Good luck and all the best! (I won't say "congrats" until you hear the "yes"... ;) )
