What do you do for the environment?

Without getting political, what do you do for the environment? I'm no treehugger, I just try to do my part without leaving a huge impact on the earth. If nothing else, I figure I have to make up for driving a gas guzzler for sure.

Flourescent light bulbs, LCD TV, laptops, everything I use has rechargeable batteries, shower only when I need to, etc. etc. etc.

What do you do?

I ride a bicycle for 95% of my daily commuting (2nd-hand Cannondale Super V plus Chariot CX2 child carrier for my little daughter). We have a car, but it's not a gas guzzler (you can't affort one in Germany anyway - gas costs will kill you)..

We've had all lightbulbs replaced by energy-saving bulbs.

I avoid using standby on my gadgets.

I use rechargeable batteries.

I try to buy local groceries instead of imported stuff.

I avoid stuff with too much packaging etc.

I try to avoid disposable goods, e.g. shavers.

All bulbs florescent
Drive a VW 34 mpg
Re-insulated my house
Rechargeable batteries
Unplug all appliances when not in use
Take the kids to the beach & clean up once a month
Write Email & call my representatives (Local, State & Federal) a few times each week on environmental legislation.
Blog for a magazine's site on Environmental News

but most importantly, talk to other people and raise awareness that the environment is not a political issue, it's a survival/quality of life/morality issue.....

I have to admit, I'm probably the TB bad guy on this subject.

1. I drive an 06 Dodge Ram truck. 12 mpg
2. I bought my wife a Jeep Commander. she gets 10.8 mpg
3. We leave the computers on all day (not the monitors)
4. We barely recycle.
5. Our home is lit up like a Christmas tree, in and out.
6. I water the lawn everyday in season at least (the minimum I could for the environment)
7. I turn the shower on, then sit on the throne and read.

and probably the worst of all......................................

I'm the sales manager for a fence company that sells primarily PVC fence and boy, do we sell a lot of that stuff.

Well I know one thing, The Crusader and I certainly don't contribute to SMUG pollution (see Southpark: Season 10, episode 145 "Manbearpig")!

The one major change in my life I've made as of Thanksgiving is that I now light all of my farts. Not only does this cause a reduction in greenhouse gases by converting methane to carbon dioxide and water, but it provides a free source of heat for my house.

What do you guys think about an ass catalytic converter? I think I have some serious marketing potential here. All I need is a one way valve to insert, a small heating element and a tube coated in platinum or whatever.

That's good. I'm actually not so bad... I'm averaging 25mpg on regular, do my part to recycle and most of the rest is out of my control. I mostly just pretend I'm anti-environment, hehe.

I donated my car to charity more than two years ago.. so of course haven't purchased a drop of gasoline since then. I also pick up trash when I'm able to .. mostly near bus stops.

I 'air dry' my shirts alot more than I used to.. take them out of the washer, tumble them for 2 - 3 minutes in the dryer then on to a plastic hangers for free evaporation.
