What do you guys think about this bass?

I've got my Barker B2, my Fender Reggie Hamilton and my "supercharged" 55-01 (Nordy big splits/Sadowsky Preamp) and truthfully, that's all the bass I "need."

For a long time however, I've been on the hunt for something special -- something different and slightly unusual. I've been recently GAS-ing for a USA MTD but while I can afford one, the thought of $4K for a bass just makes something inside me go .

Here's something different I ran across that has caught my eye. It's an R-Bass. Seems versatile enough and is defintely unique enough. I'm wondering what my TB buddies think of it. (I didn't post the price on purpose -- I'm wondering what YOU think it ought to be worth.)

Nice bass. Since you are under my personal limit of four basses, you are clear to aquire!

No idea on the price, but I won't spend over $800 ever again.

That's a nice looking bass, but I would be concerned about the weight. Those single cuts just look really heavy to me.

Personally, I've never heard of "R-Bass". It's really pretty, although I'm not a fan of the look of the cut-away clear up to the bridge fret below and the top "horn" laying clear onto the fretboard, but if it works for you, then great.

My question is; Have you played it?????????????
How does it sound? How does it feel? Is it what you love to hear and love to feel under your fingers?????? If so, then GO FOR IT! That's what the ultimate test and answer is.

R-basses are nice basses, I've always been interested in them. But I really have GAS for a USA MTD, and if I could afford one, I'd be all over it. Although I do love Redwood tops.

Hey I was eyeballing this one earlier... I like this alot... To guess compared to other R basses Ive seen like this I would say 2000-2400 ...somewhere in there.

I've played one before at GC, and while it was a very nice bass, IMO, it played very stiffly, and had a very brittle tone.
That one looks completely different (woods and pickups, not shape), so with that configuration, it might just work.

It's an interesting bass.
It looks like it could be quite a player.
I live in the redwood forest, and since most of the redwoods were clearcut by the beginning of the previous century, so I'm not a fan of redwood tops.
Other than that bias, I think it looks good and looks like it could play nicely.

It's absolutely a different look than a fender. Bias is a given. I still can't get past the look of the upper part of the body going over the neck like that. Just my preference, I guess.
