What do you hate more, Rickenbackers or Squiers?

I hate, no I love... Wait I'm confused....

EXACTAMUNDO! Color me orange with rage....:rage: As I've said before, I don't hate much of anything. It requires far too much emotional energy, and I'm way too lazy... As for Ricks? Have 3; like them a whole lot; and, other than the developing negative neck angle on my '73 4001 (which will get fixed), I've had no, none, not any problems with them. They fit me like a glove, and I wouldn't swap them for anything. But, I do understand that they are not for every one; the ergonomics are wrong for some, and that they have "problems" that some people think they shouldn't have to deal with. Sort of like people who have a 2016 'Vette don't understand why some people like '67 'Vettes, instead...
Squiers? Convince them to make more than one bass (Modified Jazz bass) in a lefty, and then we'll see... I have no use for a Jazz Bass in any way, shape or form, so Squier has made themselves dead to me. I'm not able to judge them one way or the other... although my Alembic bass makes rude noises whenever the subject of a Squier comes up..:cool:

I like all kinds of basses from my Ric on down to whatever. I can get a good sound out of any of them, and I'm not a believer in the one trick pony junk I hear sometimes. My belief is pretty much any bass is versatile enough to work in pretty much any type of music. I guess that comes from growing up in the 60's and 70's and being happy you could get your hands on a bass and amp period. And whatever you had you would make it work. I like trying different strings to get different sounds out of a bass as well as a pickup change once even though it wasn't a necessity. But I could gig a Squier and be content. Or the Ric.

I believe the thing I hate the most is people who make generalizations about equipment from a small sample comparison.

I played quite a few Squier jazz basses that were not quite good instruments, but also owned a VM 70's jazz that was excellent. I also owned a couple of MIM Fenders that were really dogs, but my current MIM P/J is probably the favorite instruments I've ever played. That's a hard sell, because my MIJ Geddy Lee is excellent; but I still seem to prefer the MIM P/J.

I like the fact that I found a couple of excellent examples of Peavey basses (Fury and T-45), but my lowly MIM P/J is more playable and has quite enough tonal options.
