Got to take a pretty cool training class a few weeks ago: they let the engineers climb poles and operate heavy equipment. I can't believe I got paid to do this

You should be able to spot me pretty easily in most of these pictures; I'm the guy that looks like he doesn't belong.

I don't mind the heights so much, but there is no way you'd get me anywhere near an energized line.

The training photos alone of "500kV Barehand" work make me pucker. I mean, I get the whole "equipotential" thing but I would much rather be grounded and isolated from the source than at source voltage and isolated from ground.

Agreed. Electricity scares me. Even the 120V stuff in my house makes me nervous when I need to repalce an outlet or switch.
