What do you regret selling/trading?

I was thinking of all the basses I've been through over the years, and there's one that sticks out that I wish I never got rid of. My '89 PRS 4 string. I gigged with that bass for 10 years and played the finish off of it. It was the lightest and most comfortable bass I ever played. I'll try to dig up a pic later.

Which is "the one that got away" for you?

For me it was a 98/99 MIM Fender Jazz Deluxe 5-string...something about that bass - it felt perfect and sounded fantastic. But I was going through a "have to get a 6-string" phase and traded it away.

I truly regret that and if I had it to do over again I'd never let it go.

My hollow fretless Warwick Infinity :( I really enjoyed playing it badly, and should have just stuck with it and played solo if need be, but my lack of fretless ability pushed me to move it. I just got tired of being out of tune with other instruments when I played it even though I thought it sounded fantastic.

I had this great Carvin LPB70. Alder body/maple neck thru with figured walnut top and headstock veneer. Abalone blocks in the ebony fretboard. The headstock was their 2+2 traditional version. The bridge had piezo saddles and the pickups were an MM/J combo with a coil tap. It weighed in at just about 8 lbs. I sold it because I wanted a 5-string! Man, I wish I could have that bass back!

I've thought about seeking it out here on TB - maybe the new owner would be willing to sell it to me!

I regret getting rid of my first bass. It was a Samick LB-11. It had a sunburst pattern was simple and had a decent tone. I don't look at it as a great bass but it was my first and with that had something no other bass can live up to.

I recently found someone selling the exact same type on eBay. If I hadn't just bought my VJM I would have bought it.

Maybe one day!

I actually regret selling my first 3 basses. It took me years to realize that I just should have kept them. Since then, I have purchased the 3 basses (not the original's though) and I have them, but they just are not quite the same.
