That I could well see myself buying ... if they come with five strings and don't sound terrible.

I'm afraid they don't come in 5 strings yet, but as to how they sound there was a few threads on TB about them
and some videos on YT.
The vintage white looks good and only £154. Keeping strong here will not break the vow.

Amazingly low prices these days ... obviously it won't have the sound and quality of a boutique build, but I could well own a bass like this just for a few songs where the style is right.
So noone has an opinion on this bass, even if it is only to say "I don't like it"?

Check out this video of the Chinabacker review, you can see that the Harley Benton uses the same bridge and pickguard, so probably the same electronics, which are similar to a Les Paul. The reviewer notes that the bridge saddles have no compensation for fretboard radius, so you may have to shim the saddles as he did, sounds like a simple fix. Since the parts appear to be identical, this may be a rough indication what it will sound like too.
Yeah, that's what hollow bodies look like to me. I LOVE the Ric look, but the mixing of the two rankles me a little.

I never owned a HB, but i've played a few. It's ridiculous what you get for so little money.
They are not bad. Not top notch either, that's for sure - but instruments you can use for a price you'd expect a POS bass.

I'd steer clear of the Harley Benton. As far as cheaper knock-offs, the Tokai Rebelrocker takes the cake. Much better build quality. Still won't sound like a Ric but pretty cool none the less.
Not personally, but have quite a few friends in Europe that have played them and haven't heard a good thing yet.
You get what you pay for, I guess.
I was just wondering, as I have 2 of them, and have played numerous others, and never had a problem. As I have said before, the pickups are not the best, but other than that, I find them fine. Obviously not a boutique bass, but well worth the cash.

I've 5 Harley Bentons going from the entry P bass to the Top End BZ 4000. Not one single issue.
I guess I paid for decent well built basses cause that's what I got.

Love it. The subdued body style and the f-hole do it for me big time. I just wish it came in other colors. Blue would be nice.
Tempted, even though it is not a full clone but rickish. But this is something else for sure.
Knowing Harley Benton it'll be quite nice too.

Went back on sale last week,still come in black or red options. This time went as far as offering the black model in LEFT HAND versions !!!
