What do you wear when you play gigs?

Yeah, have a gig on Canada Day... Outdoor.. think Ill rock some sunglasses! Doin some oldies like Tom Petty and Stevie Ray Von stuff... should be fun! Thats ultimately what its all about.
I have an incredible build slowly coming together and too many other basses already, so I have no idea why this particular case of GAS exists

Tell that to Geddy lol. Yeah that was a 6 piece band on a small stage and Mikey wasn't the geatest vocalist. So when the song called for harmonies Id join the other 2. Mikey would fall back on smaller stages.A rare sighting of a bass player up front and the guitar in the back
This is what I ended up wearing. Thankfully we did not hit 100 degrees. Sadly, my wife said the shirt "didn't do anything" for her. She's a little young to appreciate paisleys.

For a local Rotary Fundraiser last Friday we had to dress "up" for the night. No problem when the occasion calls for it.
Already asked us back for next year. We were at a riverside pavilion gig, wearing shorts, when they approached us and booked this one.

First gig with the new band (and first new band since 2001) last Friday. Darling Daughter tried to veto the vest and bandana wristband, but she's not the boss of me (and they grew on her)! The Stussys have held up since '97!
OK I'll bite: Latest Student summer ball gig had an Alice in Wonderland theme. Everyone talked about leaning into it. I followed through. Pity I was the only one

Reminds me of a bar blues band pickup gig I played one Halloween. BL texted me "Please wear a costume" so I did; Even bought a shirt and silk tie and did the whole John-Wick-Russian-Mob-Boss thing. BL and rest of band showed up in jeans and T-shirts.
Not sure if the outfit was intimidating or not, but at the end of the night, BL offered to give me his cut of the tip jar.
Outdoors in the summer in North Carolina....shorts are a matter of survival.
Usually jeans and a baseball hat with either button up shirts or t-shirts.
It was jeans, T-shirt and sneakers for a long time but these days I try to not look like a punter. A nice shirt, usually black pants, boots and I've started wearing nice wide brimmed hats with colourful hat-bands.
A related story: Back in the mid-80s I bought a set of these boots and wore them to every show I played in college. Then took them with me when I moved to Taiwan where the humidity took a toll and wore the soles out, so I had them remade in Bangkok, but the leather they used dyed my socks black. Wore those out, anyway, then stopped playing until last January. Was looking for something to wear onstage again and discovered that Dingo still makes the Amsterdam (although they're not as well made as they used to be. Had to run them to the cobbler to get the heels trimmed down from the OEM rainboot look to real ropers.) Can't wait to break them out for a nightime gig!
