What Do Your Grocery Lists Look Like?

my fridge has milk butter eggs and 35mm film in it. freezer: ice, ice cream. cupboard: beans pasta stuff & rice. I make too much to get food stamps yet my take home is caca.

Similar situation here. We do have a freezer, so buy whatever meats are on sale and after a time, end up with pretty good variety. Still lots of pork and chicken though. I'm a lover of beef, but that stuff is getting crazy expensive these days. Still get some now and then to retain my sanity. If I could keep a couple steers in the backyard, I would.

The little ones are old enough to take fishing now so should be adding some fish to the diet this spring and summer. Also starting a vegetable garden but are running behind schedule and don't have it in yet, hopefully this weekend. Not a big deal as growing season here is so crazy long, there's actually 2 of them in one year and I want to stagger planting anyway so as not to have all the crop come in at once and end up with more than we can use or have to drop everything to go on a marathon canning escapade.

If your looking for details then i'll give them to you.

mirepoix (carrots, onion, celery)
tomatoes
tomato paste

tortilla chips and salsa.

this is mostly it.

Edit: Re Zweigle's dogs. Invalid Link Removed a link to they're online ordering. It occurred to me they have a lot of products. They do online orders now so if your feeling like trying a different kind of dog give the Red/White Pop-open mix pack a go. Not everyone likes them but there the most popular around these parts, hotdog stands don't even have any other brands around here.

Well, start with what you know how to cook. No need to get ingredients that you don't know how to use. Then, depending on what entrees you are making, buy those ingredients.

Spices: start with salt and black pepper.
Depending on what kind of cuisine you like, go with that. Oregano, basil, sage and red pepper flakes for italian. Soy sauce, sesame oil, and garlic powder for Asian.
Making homemade chili or gumbo is fun and you can add more or less heat to your liking.

Coffee: instant coffee or coffee beans, sugar or artificial sweetener, cream or creamer.

Hamburger: ground beef, lettuce, onion, tomato, hamburger buns, American cheese, mustard, ketchup, dill pickles
Spaghetti and meatballs: spaghetti, spaghetti sauce, ground beef, egg, breadcrumbs, onion
Tuna salad sandwich: wheat or rye bread, lettuce, tuna, mayonnaise, onion, black pepper, salt, sugar
Ramen: ramen package
Taco: flour tortilla or corn shells, ground beef, taco seasoning, lettuce, tomato, onion, small olives, sour cream, salsa/taco sauce
Linguine with garlic sauce: linguine, garlic cloves, olive oil, red pepper flakes, black pepper, salt
Philly steak sandwich: thinly sliced steak meat (steak ums), provolone cheese, onion, mushroom, steak sandwich buns
Monte Cristo sandwich: white bread, butter, Swiss cheese, ham, turkey, egg, milk, black pepper, salt

We are a family of six, we usually cook from scratch so here it goes: eggs, milk, lot of veggies, lot of fruits, meat( chicken , beef , pork, sea food) oil, species, cleaning stuff, pasta, beer. Different types of bread, tortillas, ice cream.

Weekly menu usually include Mexican, Thai, lot of salads, barbecues on weekends, juices for breakfast.

Our budget for groceries is $800 at month, we rarely eat out.
