i started playing bass in the band im in because i didnt want to play many chords (kinda had to to fill the sound while we were looking for a bass player when there is only one guitar). teaching my girlfriend to play guitar (she sings in the band already) which is going quite well.

so really i stopped being a guitarist because of my ego...

not really ego, but i just like the way bass can shape things, and now when i play chords its to add to the music, not just an expected thing.
