What does a heart attack feel like ?

According to my mom, my step-dad said he felt like he had really bad heartburn.

Later that night, he dropped dead -- literally.

I hope I never find out personally.

a heart attack will present differently to different people, the quality of the pain can be described as a heaviness or pressure, maybe a stabbing pain or dull ache, pain can originate in the chest and radiate to the back, neck, arms, jaw, etc. sometime the pain is not in the chest at all and all one experiences is back, neck, jaw, arm pain, many people think they are experiencing acid reflux (heartburn) and others may have no associated pain at all, (the deadly silent MI). Nausea, vomiting and diaphoresis are tell tale signs. Many of the signs and symptoms are associated with the area of the heart that is dying. From the many people I have seen having a heart Attack I can honestly tell you that it is no es bueno.

A guy that used to live with my grandmother for a while (not my grandfather, that's another story) heart blew a valve in his chest. When they found him it happened so quick they had to pry him off of the wood trim on the floor because when he feel his teeth hit the trim and stuck. Seeig that and having a photographic memory not a good combo.

My father had one earlier this year, he went white, green & blue. Looked like he was choking but made it through. He said it was extremely painful all down his left side and arm and that once the medics gave him a drug it all relaxed and he was ok.

Sad thing is it can be mostly prevented by stuff everyone knows but takes the chance.
