What DR's are on your Jazz bass?

Lite gauge stainless Lo-Riders 40-100. As has been said, the hex core makes them a little more stiff, which I really like. To me they have a growl and bite that I associate with Rotosounds without the really rough wrap wire that Roto's have.

I previously had been using the Marcus Miller Fat Beams on both my Jazz bass and Lakland 55-02, but grew a little tired of the "springy" feel of the Fat Beams when I changed from playing blues and funk to more aggressive rock with a new band. I also found that I liked the lighter gauge, especially for the B. (from 125 to 120) it gave me a more even feel across the neck than I had with the Fat-Beams.

Thanks, gang! Got more responses than I thought I would. Offhand it sounds like I'm going to try the Nickle Lo-Riders starting at a .045. If they don't work out there's more DR's to choose from.

Again, I'm really looking forward to playing this bass again.

on my 96 jazz i have dr fatbeams great sounding (my bass has sjb-2 pups). On my 74 jazz maple board its ghs boomers or sunbeams both nickel

Not sure what comes from the factory, but I just put a set of DR Sunbeams on my American Standard Jazz - with a maple board that I thought was too punchy initially - and the sound great. Maybe this bass is a keeper after all.

For my main bass, a jazz with warmoth neck I use nickel sun beams or the purple Xtra lifes (discontinued). I miss the purple Xtralifes. Dr + jazz bass equals funky tone so stanky you can smell it!

Areodyne loaded with Neons or Sunbeams (same strings but no "zazz") if i dont want colours.... drool
Not overly zingy but punch well and bein roundcore they have nice tension. 45 - 105

I've tried a few different sets of DR's and liked them all, plus I still have a pack of Hi Beam flats I haven't used yet. But, so far, I like nickel Lo Riders best. The Sunbeams are a close second but I prefer string that are a little higher tension. They sound great, though (at least on my Warwick, never tried them on a Jazz).

AAMOF, I just ordered another set of nickel Lo Riders so I can put them on an SX Jazz I'm in the middle of modding. And those Hi Beam flats might end up on another SX Jazz I'll be modding after I'm done with the first.
