What D'yall think about Schecter Basses?

They play pretty well. I picked one up the other day and it felt nice. Didnt get to plug it in but you get what u pay for in terms of electronics. They seem to be just like an ibanez in terms of quality and playability.

They make a nice bass with crappy electronics.

replace the preamp and maybe even the pickups and you will have a nice bass.

I had been looking at Schechter before I bought my new bass, right after I had a chance to buy a Stilletto Custom at a reduced price. It looks bad but after playing both my basses I've decide I don't care for the Schechter but I can't find anyone who wants to buy it. It has a fast neck and a cool looking body with EMG pick ups. In fact, I am willing to see a brand new one that's not been played more than 10 mins let me know.

One of, if not the best bang for the buck out there (Stilleto eliete : 35" scale, NT, binding, great woods and finishes). Weak point is the preamp. Put a emg pre or better yet Spector tonepump in there and it's a killer.

The emg Hz's are better than what people give them credit for. They tend to come with not so good preamps. Lots of guys are starting to use the Hz's with different preamps. Slightly less highend compared to std emg's. They are virtually identical to the emg CS (ceramic n steel) line. If I wasn't playing Spector I would be playing a schecter or NT Ibanez.

i think they are quite good for the price you pay. i have a stiletto elite-5 and a studio-5 i bought 2 years ago. still going strong with no issues. play and sound good through good amps. the amp you have affects how you sound. the better the amp, the better it sounds, IMHO.

the stiletto elite and studio both have emg pre's in'em. the studio has an 18-volt and the elite has a 9-volt bts with dipswitches on the circuit board to change the treble response.

IMO any Schecter is a better value than the equivalent MIA Fender. I have a Shecter Diamond C4XXX and it's a wonderful bass to play - even has EQ that's switchable with DIP switches on the PC card. Active basses aren't my first choice, but this one is just beautiful and balances nicely.

Fit, finish and assembly are equal or better than MIA Fenders, hardware is as good (and the bridges are nicer) and the price is less. Schecter makes a great bass for the money, and easily the equal of basses costing a lot more.

I play the Studio 6. I really like the 3-band preamp and hardware on it, though I did upgrade the pickups to EMG DC's. I also plan to throw on some Hipshot Ultralites, but the balance isn't bad enough to really necessitate it.

It's really my go-to bass. I've considered buying another one (or two) on several occasions just to keep them set up in different tunings.

I have a Schecter C4 and I absolutely love it! It is beautiful and plays great! Most playable neck I've yet seen. With the adddition of some D'addario Chrome flats, it's a beautiful beast that sounds awesome!
