What effect device is this guy using?

I e-mailed him and he said he do not use effects devices.He sais he is playing a FenderJazz 5 string.Sound like his guitar is playing farts. It's the song named much junk in my playing. He got lot of bass sound bites on this page. Have anyone heard of him?

Sounds like typical palm mutes (muting at the bridge with your palm then plucking with your thumb).

Apparently you haven't listened to much trumpet Yes, I've listened to the whole song- sounds like palm muting throughout most of it then switches to fingerstyle near the end. It also sounds like he's playing a fretless, which can add a more vocal "warbling."

It's also possible he's using a bit of heavy compression, which can "squelch" notes, but it doesn't sound like anything I haven't heard from palm muting on a fretless before.

Im trying to describe the sound tuba then hehehe. He said it's a normal fender 5 string bass.

Normal Fender 5's come in fretless too. If it's not a fretless, then I'd venture that he's using some compression- the squelching can give an almost fretless-like tone. Also, if it's not fretless, he needs to do some setup work on his bass, because the intonation is off in spots.

I need to get my intonation set off also hehe. That sound he's playing sound cool and diffrent. I do not thinkhis bass is off because the rest of his songs sound normal and ok. He using some kind of technic he's not telling or he's just gifted

This can happen either by not having your intonation set up properly on your bass resulting in the notes being more and more out of tune the further you go up the neck, or by playing fretless wherein a slightly off fretting will result in an out of tune note. Once you develop your ears to hear in tune, it's actually a little painful to hear out of tune notes.

It's good that you like it, but you should be aware that he's not playing anything particularly special or different.

If you really enjoy the sound of palm muting, you should check out Anthony Jackson. One of the best bass players to ever live, and he does quite a lot of palm muting when playing Latin stuff.
