What flats for SR5?

String choices are a very personal matter. So, there is no such thing as "consensus" on strings.
That said, either of the two offerings from Ernie Ball would be a good place to start. The Cobalt Flats for something bright and modern or the Stainless Steel Flats for something a bit more traditional but still with a good midrange.

Dogal Jaco System Ultraflat for me for my SR4. I tried 8 different flats (as well as different tapewounds, rounds, and pressurewounds) and I kept coming back to the Dogals. They make 5 string sets.

I had a set of Chromes that sounded fantastic on my SR5, then I put Pressurewounds on it, but recently decided to go back to Chromes again. I'm much happier now. 
Rather than just say "Get a set of Chromes!!", I tell you what I like about them since those things might turn you on or they might turn you off. I like their brighter-than-a-traditional-flatwound tone and I love their stiff feel. Regarding the tone, my SR5 is a 2007, so it has the Sterling 5 ceramic pickups in it and it can get pretty aggressive sounding. The Chromes take some of the edge off but still give me as much brightness and aggressiveness as I want for the songs my band plays - 60s and 70s era classics rock, blues rock, and "classic" blues.
That being said, I might like to try a set of GHS Precision Flats to get an even more trafyional tone. I just bought a set of them for my L-2500, another aggressive sounding bass and, if I like them them on that one, that could convince me to try them on my Stingray, too.
