What flatwounds do you prefer???

- I've tried Chromes twice - I don't dislike them, but they're not my favorites.
- I LOVED the 1954 LaBella's, but the tension made me worry about my neck/truss a little (used them on a Squier P bass).

There was one set I tried on a demo bass in a big box store a while ago that I really liked, but wasn't sure of what they were. They were fairly shiny and had a bit of bounce to them. Don't remember the string wrap color, if there was any. Regardless, I'd like to try DR Legends next. I'm hoping those are the strings I tried. May grab some this week.

Not much of a flats guy. The only time I use them is in the studio when asked to bring a " P Bass with flats ". So I have a CIJ Fender P with GHS Precision Flats on it. They are the only flats I have tried that didn't need any breaking in, or had some sticky residue. Good to go right out of the package.

I use GHS Precision and TIs.
I didn't like the Fender flats or the chromes, but maybe I didn't give them enough time to mellow out.
Probably will try Labella soon.

This thread would have benefitted from a poll.

As much as I would like to blow the OP's mind with a completely different idea, TI's are just too good to ignore.

The Fender 9120 black nylon's would be my second choice. These tapewounds are great for a thick, mellow tone. They're amazing and all, but the TI's work for just about anything.

I've got TI Jazz Flats on my American ReIssue '75 JazzBass, they are the best sounding Flats, I've got Rotosound Flats on my Fender Vintera P-Bass and they fell and sound great, then I have Fender 9050's on my Aerodyne J-Bass and they are sharp, clear and thumpy. I'm not sure which ones I like more, they all feel good and sound great. Personally, I can't choose one over the other, I just like the feel of the flats better.
