What gave you serious G.A.S recently?

because this one sounds great and fits the band:

I like those, but because of the colour I think they are ugly as. If they were black with gold hardware I'd be all over them.

I recently played a Fender Victor Bailey Acoustic. Of the many "true" ABGs I've tried, it'd probably be the only one I'd actually buy.

The ergonomics, while somewhat cumbersome, are far superior to big-bodied models like the Tacoma and Taylor, which have much too wide a lower bout on which to rest your right forearm comfortably. (But the neck still feels too long in the lower positions and there's no thumbrest).

Construction is flawless. With the high action, there's enough oomph volume-wise to keep up with one acoustic guitar, but not anything else. OTOH, for a small bodied instrument, I'm really surprised at how *even* the response is from the bottom to the top of its range. Usually the E and A strings sound puny next to the D and G strings on an ABG; not so with the Bailey. You can even get a passable slap sound out of it.

Not exactly a ringing endorsement, but compared with what I think about ABGs in general, it's great praise.

It's also the best looking ABG I've seen, by far. The heavily striped dao is much prettier than the koa they use for the electric Baileys. I'm seriously considering getting one of these, even with the above reservations.

My latest GAS attack cost me a penny or two, an NS CR4M. Everyone's favourite EUB, well, that is if you don't have a Caruthers, Ergo, Palatino, Azola, BSX... (other EUBs are available). It is just the dog's b*******!!! Such a versatile bass. Trouble is I now have to put my Spectorcore fretless in for a setup and some new strings to try and get close to the fretless sound on the NS. Everyone loves the 'DB' sound on it too. :hyper: :bassist: :smug:
