what gives?

How was downtown?

Not good. Couldn't get any frozen TNC dinners.

But I did manage to score some Chocolate Eclairs.

You should respond when appropriate. Why? Well, say a random stranger walks up to you and says they like the color blue and want to know your favorite color. You reply and subsequent questions come up, perhaps finding out why they care and what their motivations. Or, you're standing at the entrance of a tunnel and you hear someone yell out wondering what your favorite color. Do you respond to the nameless, faceless, undefined questioner? Would it change the information exchange? I think so.
