I've been playing primarily 6 string basses since 1988 when I had my first one built. I did buy a Jazz copy a while back, or, actually, it was given to me as a gift--and I love it.
For those who make ridiculous statements about "tapping," "too many strings," and "playing the BASS," well......here's something for ya: d'ya ever notice how playing a C, for instance, on the 8th fret of a low E string sounds "tubbier" than a C on the 3rd fret of the A string? Lots of Reggae players, for example, often play up higher on the neck-because the tone of those notes is fatter. Having Low B And High C strings allows for different timbre.
