So just because something has a high price tag it magically makes it better?
Or because it's made by some big name company it's inherently better just because they made it?

No, I don't. There is nothing "magic" about good quality.
Is Glenfidditch Scotch "Magically" better then Von's or stater brother's brand scotch?

I recently purchased a Douglas Pisces with every intention of putting a MM neck on it. Once I got the bass and saw the headstock in person I was like, what is all the hoopla? It really ain't that bad looking to me in real life. I think the pics make it look worse. Plus I don't play in front of the mirror [much ;-)] so the headstock looks exactly like any other headstock to me while I'm playing.
Also, put that Rondo up against my MiM Jazz with Model Js and Audere and there isn't a giant gulf between them except for the $550 difference in price when all is said and done. I could have spent that $550 on a decent starter rig. Instead I have a Fender sitting on a stand that isn't dramatically better than the Rondo sitting right next to it. And for all the years I dreamed of having a real Fender and I get one and it still gets dogged for being a MiM. You can't win around here. So for people on a budget, starting out or have a family to feed while still trying to have a creative career... I see Rondo as a super resource.
I'm no pro. I'm just a guy who kicks it with some friends and takes lessons and so on. So a buck fifty for a decent bass is perfect for me. A Rondo bass would be perfectly fine for me even if I got a gig at the local tavern or whatever. I would rock the snot out of it.
I think most people keep in perspective the roll Rondo plays. Compared to the Epiphone Accu-Turd I played back in the 90's this Rondo is butter.

I think the reason SX gets all that great hype isn't because it ACTUALLY is better than ANY bass. It's the price-point.
You can spend under $200 and get a very playable (might need a setup, sure) good sounding bass.
A buddy of mine bought an SX P/J a couple years ago off Rondomusic. I was really surprised how well it played and how much it sounded like my CIJ Precision.
For $109, how could you go wrong?

Ugh. You just don't get it.
Price has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with quality.
The price of a product is determined by the cost to produce it and the amount of labor involved. Neither of those things necessarily equate to a quality product.
You could put a lot of effort into something and still wind up with crap.
Also, QUALITY IS SUBJECTIVE. You might pick up a bass and believe it to be high quality. I might pick up the same bass and think of it as low quality.
Hmmm. Has me wondering if the change was due to a lawsuit, or if some genius decided to reinvent an already successful product.
(aka reinvent the wheel).
If anything, the previous SX headstock had more similarity to Lakland and Musicman than it did to Fender. IMHO. The Old Old fishhook ones where also poor designs IMHO.

But, what I keep on reading here is that everywhere in the world, good quality products are usually better then the lower prices knock-offs, EXCEPT in the world of basses.
And don't forget, with the previous headstock design there were a lot of threads showing how to remove the SX logo and replace with a Fender waterslide. Just saying... 
There is no point reasoning with you then. If you can't understand something as simple as why people sell things for the prices they do, there's no point in arguing with you.
Have fun spending money on crap while the rest of us enjoy our great sounding cheap basses.

Not for me. I am not getting "heated". I find this very amusing (on a day off when I have a cold anyway) that a handful of internet bass experts know so much more then the top bass builders do about quality, and price-point.
Yep folk, Fodera, Alembic, Fender custom shop, Sadowsky, Dingwall, Lull, Celinder, Surine, etc....all are wrong and have been wrong for years! In fact, they have been ripping us poor suckers off for a long time since everyone knows that price does not reflect quality, and the mighty SX is just as good as their product for 1/16 to 1/32 the price!
These master builders are wrong, and the internet warriors are all correct!Now THAT's entertainment! Thank you for making my day, Gentlemen!

Shouldn't you take your personal grievances with another member to PMs with him?
It's gotten old, which I think is the real reason things have gotten quieter. There have been several polls here, and repeatedly most people either couldn't tell the difference between an SX and a "Real Fender", or they actually preferred the SX.
As far as quality goes, they aren't near the build quality of instruments built by MIA Fender today, nor should they be, but they are better than any 70's CBS Fender that I have ever touched.
LOL, all I said is "It's a poor craftsman that blames his tools." and it wasn't even directed at you.
