I'm sorry to see this kind of response and feel somewhat guilty for having shared the public info about charges and plea deal that David made.

I haven't seen David in a decade but will always love him, dearly, for who he is and for the music he makes.
Just wanted to say that.

Used to see him with West Coast Bands that toured the East Coast (SF Allstars with DM, Joey Covington, Merl Saunders John Cippolina and others) and with Cocomo and Go Ahead (Brent Mydland and Billy Kreutzman of the Grateful Dead).

He was talented back then. Bummer if what's posted here is true about investment fraud.

I'm glad to see this thread active again - would also love to hear more news about DM.

'Moonflower' was/is an album that pretty much changed my musical outlook from the minute I heard it. DM's work with the Santana band, and Carlos' solo albums, remain some of my most 'inspired by' records.

Hell, I've got a white P bass because of him!

I was a Russian language major at the University of Washington in Seattle in '78, and paying rent and tuition by playing bass in several bands. A girlfriend gave me a copy of "Moonflower" for Christmas. I almost put down the bass after listening to David Margen's delicious bass lines, and instead decided to be inspired by this incredibly gifted man, using "El Morocco" as my favorite lip-losener every single morning before breakfast. Whatever path he's decided to take through Life, I'm so very thankful David's music has been a part of my life, and I wish him all the best.

I've been listening to the 'Palladium Weekend' shows this week. Not sure about the US, but Google Play has a few 'Tana shows from the DM era for us in the UK.

His live tone is superb, and the band were on fire. I've always loved Greg Walker's vocals too. Amazing.

Carlos always manages to score great bassists who add something different to the vibe of the band.

David plays in band called Sunday Paper with former Tower of Power & Starship guitarist, Jeff Tamelier....Tony Stead on keyboards and T. Moran on drums.

They perform the last Sunday of the month at Armando's in Martinez, CA.

Each month they have a guest vocalist. Past guests have been Rick Stevens, Lydia Pense, Fred Ross, Tony Lindsay, to name a few.

This upcoming performance will feature Alex Ligertwood.
