Believe it or not, there are plenty of rural areas not properly served by internet. I have a relative that only has access to dialup. They tried a satellite service but cannot receive a proper signal due to heavily wooded nature of their property and area. The dialup service is so bad it's practically useless.

Also, I'm surprised that the transaction couldn't have occurred by phone. Plenty of companies are happy to transact like that.

Snail mail with cc info and outdated catalog numbers doesn't sound like a great way to go. Too bad Stewmac didn't help by phone. Poor customer service in my book.

As a sidebar you list your occupation as a gunsmith. My grandad was one, too. I grew up hanging around him and his shop. His specialty was customizing former military rifles for sport use. He did most of the required metal fabrication, part blueing, buffing, wood refinishing, and assembly in his shop. One of my favorite activities with him was to "sight-in" a scope on one of his newly converted rifles.

His family was dirt poor from the Smokies. He moved north to become a career police officer. He once rode a Harley, and carried a Thompson during his service in prohibition era.

He was raised with guns, using them from an early age, and hunted for his family survival. He devoted himself to public service, all the while being a gunsmith.

Wanted to share some connectional history with you, and give you a proper, respectful welcome back to TB.

OP has good enough internet to post on TB, not sure why he couldn't use that same internet to order in StewMac :eyebrow:

I guess, to the OP, and to be polite about it - if you can post about this on TB, you can probably make the order on the Stewmac website - I've done it myself over a decade ago. I honestly didn't know people could order stuff by mail-order anymore.

Lol. Compulsive buy a few years back. Decent. Nothing special. Except for the VU meter. Hasn't got me any dates yet. Good thing, my wife would be pissed....
