What happened to Stewmac?

Maybe cut the OP some slack?

Believe it or not, there are plenty of rural areas not properly served by internet. I have a relative that only has access to dialup. They tried a satellite service but cannot receive a proper signal due to heavily wooded nature of their property and area. The dialup service is so bad it's practically useless.
That's a legitimate concern but... OP was able to post to Talkbass.

I don't know what that says, but if you're trapped in a well, or have fallen and can't get up, I'd log off and call 911 before your phone dies.

Says the member who's avatar is an ass... TRAPPED IN A WELL!

Get me outta here!

i work for a large industrial supply house, and we do hundred of thousands of orders a day. We definitely still have people who mail in orders to us like this. Could be OP can get online but doesn’t want to share his CC info with Stewmac. Just saying it’s not that odd. We have plenty of customers who also only call in, and use the paper catalog only.

I'll quote myself from what I posted elsewhere when I found out "what happened to StewMac:"

The owner sold off the whole company in 2019, and then the pandemic hit. Once, StewMac's customer service and helpfulness made the prices (almost) worth it. Now, it's run by some half-arsed "management company" who used the pandemic as an excuse to gut the service department into a third-party, no-phones, email-only, we-might-answer-your-question-in-two-days joke. All the genuinely helpful and informative "how-two" blog posts and videos they used to have are now gone. At least two dozen things I had bookmarked now come up "Whoops! 404," etc. The "StewMac era" is officially over.

If you want to read a whole lot of detail, cussin', and discussin' about the demise of StewMac, this Les Paul forum has a whole thread on it.

Good luck.

Stewmac has always been difficult. Their only plus was that they've been around so long. Now there are a plethora of other supply companies that don't price gouge like they've always done.

@Eighthnoterock and I are on the same schedule.... Lunchtime and still reading this thread.

@BassNugget I see a box of tissue in the background. Hope that's just there and not out of necessity as our 15 or 16 we have around the house. We've been suffering through the flu, now my wife has Covid. There, now I really took this thread on a tangent...
